Methodology and data sources

Rankings use public data refreshed about every 15 minutes.

  • 24h volume, open interest, markets: CoinGecko derivatives exchanges API (reported in BTC, converted to USD at the live BTC price).
  • 30-day trend and 7d change: CoinGecko daily exchange volume history; 7d change compares the last 7 days with the 7 days before.
  • Market share: each exchange's 24h volume divided by the total of the exchanges listed here.

Exchanges self-report volume, and some include incentive-driven trading. We show the numbers as reported and note anything unusual in our reviews.
